Hand Embroidery Trends –
Here at PrintWorks we like to keep up with the latest trends in the crafting world. Recently we’ve noticed that hand embroidery is making a comeback and getting a modern twist! Check out some fun ideas we found around the internet, and learn how our Vanishing Fabric Transfers can help you get started if you want to get in on the trend!
A Blank Canvas
There are so many different designs out there. Some of the most common we’ve seen include lettering/quotes, florals, and animals. But the possibilities are endless! And that’s exactly why we launched our new Vanishing Fabric Transfers – so you can create any design imaginable!
When picking the right hoop for your design, you can go with the traditional plastic or wood ones, or you can add to your piece with uniquely shaped hoops. Like this cute wooden hoop shaped like rabbit ears!
Think Outside the Hoop
Some artists are creating three-dimensional pieces that extend beyond the borders of the hoop. We love these felted carrots that dangle at the bottom of the hoop, as well as this portrait of a girl braiding her hair.
Inspired by Embroidery
Other artists are taking embroidery to a whole new level, like this embroidery done on a tennis racquet! And some are inspired by embroidery and incorporate it into other art forms like tattoos (this one is a temporary one) and cake decorating!
And the inspiration doesn’t end there!
There are so many amazing hand embroidery artists out there creating beautiful work and coming up with new ideas every day! If you can’t get enough (like us!!!), we recommend searching the hashtags #embroidery or #handembroidery on Instagram and on Pinterest – which have millions of amazing posts to get inspired by!
There are also some great artists on Instagram like @namaste_embroidery who shares helpful how-to videos for those learning embroidery.
We also found a list of articles on designboom that show artists taking embroidery to the next level.
