2021 Craft and Color Trends
2020 was a tough year…am I right? It’s time to look forward to what will be trending this year for lifestyle, crafts and colors!
2020 had a huge influence in the trends we are seeing this year…with many people home more often and having more free time on their hands, crafting has exploded! You will also see lifestyle and color trends are taking on a hopeful, refreshing feel. Let’s take a look at some of the things we should be seeing and doing this year!
Mindfulness and Manifestation
Fantasy Mapping and Manifestation Journals have seen a huge lift in searches. These tools help people to self-reflect and realize their intentions and better selves. With journaling already being a popular past time, you can make your own by using our PrintWorks Professional Perforated Paper for an easy fold and you’ll be making a journal in no time.
DIY Clothing
Personalization continues to rise and will be taken to the next level with DIY – denim, sweatshirts, tote bags, you name it! Included in this trend is tie dying which became very popular during 2020 and will continue to be a big crafting trend. A great way to personalize your clothing would be to use our PrintWorks Light and Dark Fabric Transfers which allow you to print any design you like and simply use an iron or heat press to adhere it to the fabric.
Needlecrafts
Embroidery continues to be strong! As mentioned above, DIY clothing has become very popular with embroidered elements being added to clothing for a little something extra special. People are also taking the traditional hoop craft and adding texture and 3D elements. Yarn crafts are also on the rise such as punch needle and macrame. Our PrintWorks Vanishing Transfers are not just for embroidery, they also work great for punch needle patterns!
Upcycling
With many people thinking about the environment and how to live more sustainably, upcycling has become a very popular trend. There are so many ways to upcycle common, everyday items in your house and create beautiful home goods and gifts. Try taking some of your scrap PrintWorks colored paper and making something out of paper mache! Or if just being more sustainable is your thing, check out our Elementree Printer Paper which is made from sawmill waste!
Candle Making
2020 saw a huge increase in candle making! This will continue through 2021. Perfect for your own home or gifts, you can personalize your candle jars by printing on PrintWorks Mailing Labels or creating a gift tag using PrintWorks White Cardstock.
Paper Flowers / Paper Plants / Digital Creations
While paper flowers have been popular for some time now, paper plants are growing in popularity too! In general paper creations are seeing a big uptick due to the use of digital creations using popular desktop cutting machines. Check out our Projects & Printables for some free projects or create your own using our PrintWorks Colored Cardstock & Paper!
Color Trends
Pantone announced 2 colors for their 2021 Pantone Colors of the Year: Ultimate Gray and Illuminating. These colors convey a message of strength and hopefulness that is both enduring and uplifting, coming out from a troublesome 2020. Sky Blue is another color that has trending this year – it is a refreshing sign that hope is on the horizon and gives a sense of optimism and renewal.
